Hiking and an Irish Pub

A-hiking we will go
A great view
Yesterday we got up and left Eco Venao, and drove halfway back to Panama City. We drove up into the mountains to a place called El Valle, and found a hotel called Los Capitanes for one night. It was a small room and it had a bath shower with no plug. We went to go and see a waterfall. They had free hiking sticks and we walked across a suspension bridge. You could wade right up to the waterfall but we didn't want to get our feet wet. The area was very jungly and there were hummingbirds and other wildlife. The waterfall wasn't going completely straight. It was jagged with several strands of water going in different directions. It looked not very amazing, but interesting.

We went to an Irish pub called O'Pedro for a drink and dinner. I had fish and chips. It took a long while to come but it was tasty so it was worth the wait.

  1. You are certainly eating a lot of fish on this holiday, although compared to the beginning you are reporting less cake.

You look very cool in the picture with the hat, and hiking pole (and colouful shoes)

  2. Auntie Wendy: Yes, you're right: it's too bad I haven't been eating that much cake, but I'll make up for it.

Uncle Rick: The car getting stuck on the hill was a combination of a) and b) from my point of view and I'll look forward to seeing you when I get back.

[I bet the three of us (professional travellers, after all) travel with far less luggage than you'll show up with on Monday. So yah, boo, sucks to you. Also the road was a) muddy, b) deeply rutted by 4x4s, c) very steep, and d) being tackled in a 1.6-litre front-wheel-drive Hyundai with four passengers as well as cases. The expression 'going nowhere fast' comes to mind. Once unloaded the trip could be made with tightrope-like driving on the rims of ruts and only the occasional nasty grinding noise. Luckily a rainstorm gave the vehicle a good wash just before we returned it. Ed.]
